Description

Of decagonal form inlaid with tortoiseshell, ivory, mother of pearl, ebony, and parquetry woodwork inlay, decorated throughout with geometric motifs. The tabletop is designed with a decagonal parquetry woodwork inlay, surrounded by a raised border of interlacing geometric patterns of inlaid wood and ivory edging. The table centre is decorated with two roundels: the larger one is of geometric circular sequential ripples of mother of pearl, tortoiseshell and ebony inlay, emanating from the beautifully decorated mother of pearl inlay in tortoiseshell as the central roundel, depicting a floral stem accompanied with a tugrah style calligraphy of

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

The Quranic Arabic phrase is pronounced as (Bismillah al Rahman al Rahim), translating to

(In the name of God, most Gracious, and most Merciful)

Muslims often say this phrase before reciting the Holly Quran and when embarking on any significant endeavour.

The tabletop is supported on ten legs separated by cusped arches with ivory-inlaid arabesque spandrels surmounted by square panels of geomantic patterns, inlaid with geometric motifs in mother of pearl, tortoiseshell and horn.
