A Rare Ottoman Tortoiseshell, Ivory, Horn and Mother of Pearl inlaid Coffee or Occasional Low Table, Turkey, Circa 1800

The table top is of a decagonal form inlaid with tortoiseshell, ivory, horn and mother of pearl decorated with geometric motifs and two ten-pointed stars: a small one in the centre inside another much larger one. The tabletop is designed with a decagonal parquetry woodwork inlay, surrounded by a raised border of interlacing geometric patterns of inlaid wood and ivory edging. The table is standing on ten legs separated by serrated arched feet bordered with small mother of pearl inlaid roundels surmounted by square panels of geometric patterns, inlaid with geometric motifs in mother of pearl, tortoiseshell and horn.
