Description

Of a very unusual rhombic faceted shape, the decoration and script written on these vases is been depicted from the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad from the Event of AL-Mubahalah (حديث المباهلة), translated to the Mutual Imprecation between the Muslims and the Christians of Najran.

The Prophet Hadith, which is inscribed in Cursive Thuluth Script on our lot, is as follows:

Translating to the following
(I have five with whom to extinguish the heat of Hellfire, Al-Mustafa, Al-Murtada, and their sons, and Fatimah)

The event of al-Mubahalah took place in the year 10th. AD. Between the prophet Mohammed and the Christian dignitaries representing the Christian community of Najran near the city of Sana in Yemen.

The Christian delegation to the prophet Muhammad were unhappy for the taxes (Jizya) that was imposed upon them by the Muslims, and the prophet Muhammad had agreed the religious contest that was suggested by the grand Christian Bishop (Abu Al –Harith) with the prophet, eventually the prophet Muhammad had only brought to the contest his cousin and son-in-law Imam Ali, his daughter Fatimah and his to grandchildren Imams Hassan and Hussein which is mentioned in the hadith that is written on our current lot.

Eventually the Christian delegation had felt that they are about to lose the contest and finally had agreed to pay the Jizya.

On the occasion of Al-Mubahalah was maintained in the Holy Quran Sura Al-Imran

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

Should anyone argue with you concerning him, after the knowledge that has come to you, then say: “Come! Let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, our souls and your souls, then let us pray earnestly and call down Allah’s curse upon the liars.”
